Description

The Stone Arch Bridge, crossing the Mississippi River at the Saint Anthony Falls in Downtown Minneapolis, stands as a monument to the vision of railroad tycoon, James J. Hill for his Great Northern Railway.  A monumental engineering feat at its time, it still remains as the only stone arch bridge crossing the Mississippi.
This pen and ink sketch was done specifically for this use and has been converted to an original etching using the Solarplate method.  Aquatint shading has been used in parts of the image.  Watercolor tints were added by hand following the printing process.
